The three high-rise apartment blocks in Ulm-Boefingen are a striking and widely visible feature of the urban landscape. In order to bring the buildings into line with current technical requirements, the shells were renovated. The challenge of the plan was to give the new façades a high-quality design without making the buildings appear too imposing within their built-up surroundings. To aid identification, each building is given a different colour scheme in metallic, near-natural shades that harmonize with each other. The subtle shine of the surfaces lend the buildings an elegant and fresh appearance that varies depending on the lighting and the incidence of light. The existing structure of the façades and overhanging balconies, ribbon windows and balustrades remained unchanged. The aluminium plates on the entrance sides were given screen prints to identify each house number. Canopies with glass sections provide the areas in front of the entry doors with daylight.
