The ageing indoor baths serving the municipality of Neutraubling in the district of Regensburg are to be replaced with a new indoor aquatic centre on the Haidauer Strasse. The clearly shaped design is divided into two building structures, the bathing hall and changing area having different volumes. Running parallel to the road, the changing block backs protectively onto the cemetery and the residential area to the west. The expansive bathing hall includes a dining area and connects directly with the changing wing, opening out extensively to the south and southeast towards the landform. The bathing hall is divided into a leisure and a sports area. The wellness zone with steam baths, multi-sensory showers and resting areas is located at the centre of the building. Glazed walls between the different areas enable visitors to keep their bearings while creating a generous feeling of space. School students and clubs reach the sports pool area via a separate entrance with communal changing rooms, hair-drying spaces and a club room. With a 25-metre swimmers’ pool, a non-swimmers’ pool, a paddling pool for toddlers and an outdoor pool, the new aquatic centre will give families a pleasant experience while simultaneously also serving school and club sports.
