After 56 years of operation, the "RappSoDie" brine bath in Bad Rappenau will be torn down and replaced by a new building. The new "RappSoDie" bath will be built on the existing site next to the Kurhaus in Bad Rappenau, but will have a new concept. A three-part swimming pool concept is planned, comprising a sports and family pool, a brine pool and a sauna area. The existing sauna infrastructure will be retained.
The planning should include key aspects of sustainability such as energy-efficient operation and durable materials. The basis for this is a life cycle cost analysis. Another focus is on connecting the new brine mineral bath to the Saline1822 Hotel Bad Rappenau. The expansion of the bathing facilities to include a catering facility for the sports pool, brine pool and sauna will also be part of the planning.
The preservation and integration of existing elements such as the sauna area into the new concept also underlines the sustainability of the project. In addition, the new building is planned as a timber hybrid construction. The basement and bathing level as well as a central core in the building are made of reinforced concrete, while the wall elements are largely made of wood. The roof consists of timber modules that are delivered to the construction site prefabricated and assembled on site.
The project starts with a new entrance area to the existing sauna wing, after which the project moves on to the next round. The sauna will be retained and remain in operation during the construction phase for the new saltwater and family pool.
