The new Heloponte II leisure complex is to replace the existing building complex from the late 1970s in the spa town of Bad Wildungen. The new building is designed as a combined family and leisure pool and includes an indoor and outdoor swimming pool area as well as a sauna facility. The aquatic centre is for school and club sports, but at the same time offers a comprehensive range of bathing facilities for all generations. A special feature is an unheated natural swimming pond with about 500 square metres of water in the outdoor area of the sauna garden.
Integration into the landscape and a high transparency were the focus of the planning: large glass façades and openings throughout provide a free view into the scenic outdoor area as well as of the silhouette of the old town. The sports swimming pool hall has a 25-metre sports pool and a diving tower with one-metre and three-metre platforms. A gallery makes it possible to watch sports competitions. The family pool features a non-swimmers' pool and a paddling pool with play elements. Other attractions include an 80-metre slide and a "spray park". The large sauna area adjoins to the west: from the saunarium to the steam bath to the panorama sauna with a view towards the Sonder stream. A small outdoor swimming pool for sauna guests slides out from the level. Directly below it, connected to the family pool, is a second outdoor swimming pool with brine water.
