The Syrdall Schwemm recreational baths in Niederanven, designed by 4a Architects in 2010, has been very popular since it opened. The characteristic architectural language of the existing building—marked by expressive geometries, warm materials, and an open, inviting atmosphere—has proven to be both functional and identity-forming.

With the construction of a new training pool, including changing rooms and sanitary facilities, the municipality is responding to the increased number of visitors and the growing demand for school and club swimming. The fact that the recreational baths is being expanded with an additional training pool after 15 years of operation is a strong sign: of its high acceptance among the population, of the functional quality of the original design, and of the responsible further development of the existing infrastructure."

The new building is being constructed while the recreational baths remains in operation – an organizational challenge that also reflects the facility's importance in everyday life. It will create additional capacity and enable more targeted use and clearer differentiation of the services offered – especially for children, schools, and swimming lessons.
