Swimming is essential for the population and thus for the communities, as can be shown by the example of the city of Biberach an der Riß. The city had the existing sports swimming pool expanded to offer a wider range of bathing facilities. The pool was built in 2008 by 4a Architekten Stuttgart in cooperation with Georg Reisch GmbH & Co. KG. The extension with a teaching pool docks longitudinally with the existing bathing hall with its characteristic roof shape - and picks it up in form and materiality. The design of the striking supporting structure made of steel beams and solid wood shell elements still looks contemporary 13 years later and creates an expressive setting for swimming.
