In the competition for the conversion and extension of the administrative headquarters of the Abfall-Wirtschaft Rems-Murr in Waiblingen, 4a Architekten won 1st prize. In particular, the urban integration of the 3-story office and administration building, the clear and simple floor plan design and the design as a wood-concrete hybrid building with truss-like support structure in the facade level convinced the jury.
Excerpt from the jury report: The townhouses at the corner of Bahnhofstrasse and Weidachstrasse, which today stand fragmentarily in the urban space, are conclusively supplemented and bound together by an elongated two-story extension to form a building ensemble. The new building connects with its narrow side and set on joint next to the existing building to the public street space and can thus appear independently. The theme of old and new is thus formulated in a simple and self-evident way as a theme and consistently worked through.
